Munch Your Lunch is not available on Thursday 24th August and Thursday 31st August due to the SKI / EOTC Programme

Menu

Munch Your Lunch offers two food options every day in either a $6.50 small or $8.50 large portion size.

Special gluten, egg and vegetarian lunch options are available. Parents who would like to order a special diet meal can order online then, text 0274 106 243 at least 24 hours prior to arrange a special meal.

No lunches contain nuts however food is prepared in a commercial kitchen where nuts may be used. Eggs are only used in baking as an ingredient.

Monday Option 1 - Teriyaki Chicken and Rice with Fruit Salad and Lemon Cupcake

Teriyaki Chicken with rice

Servings:
Small portion: 200gms of teriyaki chicken and rice and a fruit salad plus a lemon cupcake.
Large portion: 250gms of teriyaki chicken and rice and a fruit salad plus a lemon cupcake.

Ingredients:
Chicken thigh, GF soy sauce, ginger, garlic, brown sugar, plum powder, rice vinegar, rice. Sweet treat of self raising flour, butter, oil, yoghurt, sugar, lemon, eggs, salt.

Subway - Subway is also available on Fridays and is ordered by envelopes.  Subway is not part of Munch Your Lunch.

Munch Your Lunch offers easy healthy whole food kids lunches. The lunches are made fresh by our local Chef and delivered to the school just before lunchtime.

Check out the menu online then sign up for your account online at www.lunchonline.co.nz website. You can make daily orders once you have created an account and added credit. If you need help, check out the detailed instructions provided on this page.

Select the day, meal and size of the lunch for your child. You can order lunch for the current day up until 9.30am or you can order in in advance.

Munch Your Lunch packaging is collected and reused each day.

Please follow these instructions to create a LunchOnline account.  

The Account Holder is the adult who is responsible for making the payments.  A child must NOT register as the Account Holder.

Step 1:  Click on this link to go to www.lunchonline.co.nz/Accounts/Create

Step 2:  Complete the form filling in your details, not your child's details.

Step 3:  You are now logged into your lunchonline account.  First add a member to your account.  A member is the recipient of the order, i.e your child.  You can add as many children as you like. Click the add/edit members menu button then click add a new member.
Add a memberStep 4:  Now add some money to your account.  You need to add money before you can order lunches.  Click the make payment menu button then select credit card.  Enter an amount $20 or greater then you will be taken to Payment Express to process your payment.

How to add an order.
For this example we will add an order for Jennie Croxford who is in Room 17.

Step 1:  Login to your lunchonline account by clicking here.  You may already be logged in if you just finished the registration process.

Step 2:  Click the orders menu button.  Select a date then select a member(child) then click add order.
Place an Order
Step 3:
  Now choose a meal.  Here's the slightly unintuitive part because of the way we've laid out our menu with different food on each day.  In our example, we've chosen a delivery date of Thursday.  You need to click the Thursday Menu to see the food available that day.
Place OrderOnce you click the Thursday Menu (or Monday if it's Monday you are ordering for) you'll see the menu items.  Simply choose a size (Small or Large) then click add.  You'll now see the product added to your order, your order total and new balance.  Click the submit button.
Place OrderStep 4:  Now you've placed the order for that child on that day.  Simply repeat for other children and different days if required.  You'll see an invoice from our caterer Tiritiri Kitchen.

This whole lunch programme wouldn't have been possible without the enthusiasm of the school Enviroschools team.

Early in the lunch setup process, we talked to Gina Dempster from Wanaka Wastebusters and Simon Williams from Enviroschools.  The big question was, how are we going to deliver the lunches?  We quickly realised that if we had 200 orders a day and used recyclable or compostable plates, there would be a lot of waste.  We researched alternatives and decided Sistema containers are the perfect solution.  We can sterilise them every night and use them again and again.

Sistema did us a great deal on the containers.  We decided to brand them and a group of students worked with Simon on ideas for the logo and name for the project. 'Munch your lunch' was suggested by the children and a logo was designed by Tayla from Room 19.

In order for the logo to be printed onto the lunch boxes it had to be digitised. Simon worked with the students as he converted the drawing on a piece of paper into a digital image suitable for printing. They loved seeing all the different parts of the process and were amazed at just how much work has to be done to take a drawing on a piece of paper and turn it into a format suitable for printing onto hundreds of lunch boxes.

Every day the lunches will be delivery to school just before lunchtime.  After the children finish eating, a volunteer lunch monitor will collect the uneaten food which will go into the school's Bokashi composting system.  Simon and the Enviroschools team will use the compost in the school's vege gardens and hopefully some of the garden produce will be used in the lunches.

The Munch Your Lunch programme was the idea of the Wanaka Primary School Future Trust.  The Trust organised contracting a caterer, purchased the Sistema lunchboxes, set up the ordering website, and worked with the Enviroschools team.  With every lunch purchased, a small profit goes to the Trust.  This allows the Wanaka Primary School Future Trust to donate to the school.

 

 

 

We have setup the Munch Your Lunch programme by talking to caterers, teachers, the Board of Trustees and some parents.
